Town Holding Affordable Housing Lottery for 117 South Bedford Street

There is an opportunity in Burlington for someone to buy a starter home at a reduced price.

The town has posted an application for an affordable housing project featuring a three-bedroom home at 117 South Bedford Street that is on the market for $290,000.

As reported by BNEWS, Town Meeting voted to appropriate $250,000 for the purpose of purchasing the property in 2018. However, the town was able to secure it for only $150,000 and use some of the funds, along with donations, for repairs.

According to the application, 117 South Bedford street is a single family home that is a 1960’s slab ranch, situated on .36 acres in a residential area. The home is being sold with the land.

It contains 1272 square feet of living area with 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. The home was completely remodeled in 2021 with many improvements, including replacing the oil fired system with FHA/Central Air LP gas, blown in fiberglass insulation, new sheetrock/plaster, 100 amp electric service and lighting fixtures, plumbing and fixtures as well as asbestos abatement. There is a brand new roof, siding, windows, doors (interior and exterior) and vinyl plank flooring throughout, new kitchen cabinets with granite tops and appliances (stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal).

The deadline to apply is January 10 and there are a number of conditions potential buyers have to meet. Click Here to look at the complete application.
