UCC Brings Christmas Trees To Burlington

For the first time in several years, Burlington residents won’t have to leave town limits for a charity-oriented spot to pick out a Christmas tree. The United Church of Christ is offering a chance to pick out your perfect tree right in town, with 10 percent of the proceeds going to People Helping People.

Reverend Andrew Harris helped volunteers unload a truck full of Christmas trees recently, in advance of the lot’s grand opening.

“Last year me and my family moved to Burlington, we were looking for a place to buy Christmas trees, and we realized that as of a couple years ago when the last nonprofit Christmas tree sales closed down, you had to leave town to get your Christmas trees,” he said. “We thought we’d establish a place where people in Burlington could pick up their tree in Burlington and support a good cause.”

Visitors can also expect hot cocoa, Christmas carols, and a general sense of holiday cheer. Beginning Black Friday, November 29, the lot is open Fridays 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays noon to 7 p.m. They’ll also be open the night of the tree lighting, Tuesday, December 3.
