Welcome Alliance Clinic Gets Permanent Home at Marshall Simonds

Burlington’s Marshall Simonds Middle School is set to be the permanent home of the Welcome Alliance Clinic, which offers free physical exams for students in Burlington and Woburn.

Roughly 140 students have received care through the program since it began in December, 2021.

Students receive care from Tufts Medical Center students, under the supervision of Dr. Wayne Altman, Chair of Family Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. The service is provided jointly by Burlington and Woburn Public Schools, and is funded by a $300,000 grant from the state.

“The Burlington location for free physicals is conveniently located for our families in both Woburn and Burlington,” said Burlington Schools’ Rosemary Camacho-DeSousa. “Any student in need of a physical can come to the clinic.”

The clinics will soon expand to offer vaccinations that are required for the students to attend school.

All students are welcome. The next clinic is scheduled for May 1 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
