Wicked Local Going Full Digital and Ceasing Print Publications

A longtime news source will be making big changes in the next month. The Burlington Union, a publication of Wicked Local, will soon no longer offer print publications and be offered exclusively online.

Gannett Publishing Services, the company that owns USA Today and Wicked Local, recently announced that multiple publications across the state will be going fully-digital soon.

Melissa Russell, Editor of the Burlington Union confirmed to BNEWS that “the Union will cease publication of the print edition on May 5. The company is moving toward more regional coverage.”

On her time covering Burlington news, Russell added “I’ve truly enjoyed covering Burlington and getting to know residents and the town and business people here.”

As reported by WestfordCAT, nineteen local newspapers in Massachusetts owned by Gannett will be ceasing print publications and transitioning to a fully digital format. Nine other papers in the state will be combined to four.  These changes are expected to occur across the state in early May.
